Are you a Digital Selling Master or Apprentice?

January 25, 2021 by Amber Shimkus

We’re excited to welcome Amber Shimkus as a new staff contributor! Amber is an experienced writer and a valued member of the PartnerOn Team. Read more about Amber here.

Sometimes, I’ll follow a social media account or blog just because of ONE really interesting and engaging post. I’m talking about the kind of post with short, quippy messaging, a focused topic or promising call-to-action, and the right hashtags for me to have found it in the first place.

When I get a taste of great content, I want more of the same. So I check back every week or so in search of the next post. But the post never comes. How disappointing. More often than not, that blog or account eventually loses me as a follower (and therefore, as a customer for the foreseeable future).

The same thing might be happening right now with your brand. You found some great content and put on your writer’s hat, researched hashtags and keywords, and one day you crafted something incredible. The likes kept coming, and some unexpected LinkedIn comrades enjoyed the post enough to share it with their own networks.

But the next time you had time to post, it was weeks (or months) later. You didn’t quite get the LinkedIn salute that you had expected after your exalted initial post. There isn’t a “share” to be seen. What happened?

Your second post flopped because you forgot about two golden rules of content marketing: consistency and engagement. These important tools will take you far when it comes to setting yourself apart from the competition (aka, the ones who never post). Depending on the time and energy that you’re willing to put into your content marketing efforts, you can become a Digital Selling Apprentice, or even a Digital Selling Master, using a few simple strategies.

How to become a Digital Selling Apprentice

Apprentice, here are your tips:

  • Automate your process
  • Develop a regular cadence
  • Capture what you need the most

Now, not everyone has the time to scour the worldwide web for the best piece of content and rack their brains for the best bit of copy to go with it. Lucky for you, you don’t necessarily have to with all of the content and tools available to you in PartnerOn. But, you do need to be consistent about posting and emailing your lead lists to see results.

If you’re starting from square one, follow these tips to lay your digital selling foundation and become a Digital Selling Apprentice.

Automate your process

Having personally met with dozens of PartnerOn partners, I find that the ones who are seeing the most success are taking advantage of one key feature: automated posting. These partners are usually the super small businesses, and the one-man operational superheroes. They truly don’t have the time to squeeze in anything extra- even the things that are worth squeezing in, like content marketing.

Like we saw in my example, if you’re not generating expectation and consistently providing quality content, you can drop valuable leads with just a few underachieving (or non-existent posts). Since automated posting takes the work and the thought out of posting, you have no excuse not to be achieving Apprentice status right now! Log in today, set your posting schedule, and let your PartnerOn account do the heavy lifting for you.

Develop a regular cadence

If you’d rather be a bit more intentional about your posts by sharing content manually, that’s just as awesome! If you have a few minutes each week to curate your own content, just make sure that you’re creating a content calendar for yourself to develop a consistent cadence. You can even use the suggested schedule in each of your weekly PartnerOn content episodes to get your content strategy on track. With just this bit of extra effort, you’re exceeding that first golden requirement of consistency, and instantly capturing more of your leads’ attention.

Before you know it, you’ll have leads who look forward to seeing your company name pop up on their feed a few times per week, and you’ll be front of mind when they need your services.

Capture what you need the most

While you’re developing that valuable cadence to keep leads and prospects engaged, make sure that you’re also sharing content that helps you capture their interest level – and email address. The Build Your List items in your PartnerOn account are gated assets that require your leads to provide basic contact information in order to read the whitepaper or ebook that you’re offering them. Leads who fill out these forms are considered to be highly interested in learning more about your products and services; that’s why we call them your Level 4 leads!

When a lead requests your content, you’re also automatically (and immediately) notified by email, so that you can start the follow-up process. Follow-up is a HUGE part of engaging with your leads, and it’s a key strategy of relationship building, which we’ll discuss when we help turn you into a Digital Selling Master.

LinkedIn Single-Sign On (SSO)

December 6, 2020 by Amber Shimkus

You no longer need to worry about reconnecting your LinkedIn account in PartnerOn! Previously, your LinkedIn connection token would expire after a set number of weeks. We’ve extended the token’s validity to 365 days.

Even better, you now have the option to sign into PartnerOn using your LinkedIn credentials with LinkedIn Single-Sign On (SSO). Our LinkedIn SSO reconnects your LinkedIn account for you every time you log into PartnerOn. It also automatically connects your LinkedIn account as a social network connection so that you can immediately start sharing vendor content with your followers.

On the login page, click “Sign in with LinkedIn.”

You will be redirected to LinkedIn to enter your LinkedIn account credentials.

Finally, you will be returned to the ContentMX (PartnerOn) login page to enter your PartnerOn account credentials and complete the connection.

Next time you log in, just click “Sign in with LinkedIn” and enter your LinkedIn credentials to access your PartnerOn account.

You can clear the connection you’ve made to LinkedIn at any time by logging in, going to My Account, and clicking “Clear Connection to LinkedIn.”

Send us an email with any questions about LinkedIn SSO: support@contentmx.com

Microsite Basics

September 29, 2020 by Amber Shimkus

Your PartnerOn account comes with a landing page called a “microsite.” Your microsite is highly customizable, and can be used as a blog, resource page, or a contact page for your sales team.

Your microsite can also be embedded onto most websites, creating an instant blog filled with quality content.

Watch this recorded webinar to learn all about your microsite!

We review setting up the microsite, sharing content, and embedding and customizing the microsite for your needs.

Please email partneron@contentmx.com with any questions.

Log in to your account and scroll down the page to Network Connections.

Click on Add/Edit next to “Blog.”

Under “Blogs,” click on the last icon in the list. The microsite icon is blue with “www” written in white.

On the next page, scroll to the bottom and click “Save.” You can now post any Share This item from your channels, to your Microsite.

You can find your microsite URL under Network Connections on your dashboard. Change the first part of your microsite URL by clicking the edit pencil.

my-engagement

To add logos and company contact information to your microsite, go to your dashboard and select Modify Profile (the blue button in your left sidebar).

For the microsite, make sure to upload a small-to-medium version of your logo. This logo will be added to the header and footer of your microsite.

Add your company name, location, and website URL.

Use the About Us section to tell potential clients about your company’s story and the products and services you offer. Add in hyperlinks, custom calls-to-action, and images to engage your audience.

Under Your Contact Information, enter the information for your main client-facing contact. The email address entered here will be included in the footer of your microsite.

Remember to click Save at the bottom of the page.

You can change the look and feel of your microsite to more closely resemble your company’s website or brand.

To access customization options, click Change/Customize Microsite. You can choose between two template options. Click again on your chosen template for options to change background color, font style, button style, and much more.

You can choose to share individual assets to your microsite, or include the microsite network in automated posting.

TO SHARE A SINGLE ASSET:

Click into any of your content channels. Select a Share This item. Scroll down in Create/Edit Your Message.

Under Publish To, you will see all of your connected social and blog networks, including your microsite. Select your microsite (and any other desired networks) and click post to share the asset.

TO POST CONTENT AUTOMATICALLY:

Automated posting is perfect for a small (or busy) marketing team. With automated posting, your PartnerOn account will automatically post content from your selected channels to all of your social and blog networks.

Your newest week of content is scheduled for you every Monday. It doesn’t get much easier than that!

Turn on automated posting by clicking the orange button on your dashboard. Use the toggle to enable automated posting.

Manage your automatic schedule from your settings tab. Select the days and times when you would like a new content item to be posted, and click Save.

It’s easy to embed your microsite into a page on your company’s website. Here’s how to do it:

Navigate to Manage Networks, and click into your microsite connection.

Copy the iframe code on your microsite connection page.

Open a new tab and navigate to your website or blog builder (Wix, Weebly, GoDaddy, etc.). The process might be slightly different depending on your website builder, but generally you will add a block called “Custom Code” or “Custom HTML.”

Add your block where you would like the microsite to be embedded, and paste your iframe code into the block.

On the right, a sample microsite was embedded directly onto this page using a Custom HTML block in WordPress. The embedded microsite will automatically update as you add content and change the layout and style.

Tip: You can change the height of your embedded microsite very easily within the iframe code. Change the height in pixels, shown below in bold.

The microsite on the right was changed to a height of 250px to better fit this page.

<iframe width=”100%” src=”yourmicrositeURL” scrolling=”yes” style=”overflow: hidden; height: 1000px”></iframe>

Email our team at support@contentmx.com for assistance with your microsite and technical questions about PartnerOn.
